the book is more openly concerned with the mythos & history of the urban core & specifically that of kansas city’s than any previous chapbook. leaving aside the personal for a more detached vantage point from which to view the hermetic goings-on of a city already subterranean in character, the book endeavours to marry a brueghel-like obsession toward detail with the musicality & motivic development of late schubert, picking up transmissions from ezra pound, mississippi fred mcdowell, charles olson, old newspaper clippings, walt whitman, kenneth irby, patti smith, forgotten blogspot pages, dead friends, & hilda doolittle along the way.
